4th of July weekend

We had such a fun and eventful holiday weekend and I thought I should recap it here. Friday night started off with a surprise birthday for our good friend, Erin. Her husband planned everything and everyone kept the secret - she was definitely not expecting that 25 people would be hiding behind the house. Husband's (roy) brother has a great house right on the lake in Kirkland and it was a perfect way to start off the weekend.

Friends from college - missing a couple key members!

The next morning, we got up bright and early, packed up our overnight bag and headed south to Ohop Lake. Our friend, Tony's grandparents have a house on this lake and Nathan has been going there for many, many years on the Saturday of 4th of July weekend. I've been going for the past 5 or so and it's always fun to look forward to. The drive takes about 1.5 hours or so and we had to stop to get fireworks on the way and food, beer & other supplies. We finally arrived at 1pm for some lunch and sunshine. The day consisted of eating, drinking, fireworking, boating, laying and doing a whole lot of nothing which was great. They have a great firework show that is right above our heads. We ended up staying the night outside on the deck which was ok until it started RAINING. Boo - we got wet for about 3 hours before we got up at 6am and started to head out.

After the long drive back, we took a nap and then got to work on scrubbing the rest of the deck in order to have it ready for staining on Monday. We have to take advantage of the nice weather when it comes to staining since we can't do it if it might rain. We ended the evening by going to Emerald Downs for some horse racing and to meet Nathan's family.

On Monday, we got up at a decent hour and got to work on the house and ended the evening with a little bbq action with Tony Rachael. It was a fun and productive weekend and definitely hard to go back to work.
