The weekend before last, we celebrated my wonderful Mom on Saturday & Sunday. On Saturday, my aunts, mom and I went to lunch at Mariposa in the Bravern. The food was really good and it was quite fancy. It didn't really feel like you were in a department store (Neiman Marcus). Right when we sat down, they brought us some hot chicken broth and a biscuit. I had a little trouble drinking the broth from a little tea cup - it just didn't work for me. From there, they brought a huge popover which was really good. For lunch, we split several salads and sandwiches. For dessert, they brought out chocolate moose and whip cream and that was delicious. Although the menu items were a little pricey, they brought so many extras during your meal, that it wasn't too bad. Thanks to my aunts for paying for our lunches!
After lunch, we drove across the lake to go to the Black Nativity at the Moore theatre. The show/musical was very interesting. It was written by Langston Hughes in the 40s. There was a lot of good singing and dancing. The show was very lively and I didn't really know what to expect. Overall, it was a fun day and good to try something new!
On Sunday, we had a family dinner at my mom and dad's house. My Dad whipped up some fish tacos and I brought a chocolate bundt cake that was delicious (thanks, Lyns). I did a horrible job of taking pictures, but here's the bundt. My Mom had a great weekend of celebration and fun!
