Nathan and I recently got engaged and I couldn't be more excited that we are going to make it 'official'. We've been together for a whole six years, so I'm definitely ready to be his wife - even though i already act like one! I want to share story and also document it so that I remember every detail.
A week before the 3rd, Nathan told me he wanted to get in the holiday spirit and go on a date night adventure. I love the holidays so I was looking forward to it. He reminded me a couple times between then and the big day, which I thought was a little strange, but I didn't think too much of it. The day before he said we were going to Daniel's Broiler since nuun had given him a gift card. I automatically assumed we were going to Lake Union so in the morning, I said "I need more shampoo from the hair dresser so when we go to dinner, can we stop in first". He completely ignored my question and didn't respond. :) He told me that morning to bring warm clothes because we would be outside. Then, we got in the car and I saw our really nice camera in the back seat which we don't take anywhere. I still didn't really think too much, just that he was up to something.
He picked me up from work and we went downtown to listen to carolers and then get some coffee. We didn't have much time beacuse our dinner res was at 5:15 because they were 'booked'. We started driving to dinner and I quickly realized we weren't gong to Lk Union, we were going to Leschi. He told me the Lk union one was full so that's why we went to other. We got to the restaurant and enjoyed our meal. Half way through, he gave me a card that said "Let's relax and have a good time tonight. I know you're stressed about tomorrow, but don't be. we're going on the christmas ship - i love you". The Christmas ship was parked right next door - now realizing why we really went to Leschi. We were having a party the next night (our first party in our new house) which is why I was stressed. After I received that card, I thought that was the surprise and thought nothing of it.
We finished dinner and went on the Christmas ship - we had a drink and listened to the boys choir. About half way through the ride, we went up on the top deck to see the lights and listen to music. We started taking pictures in front of the christmas tree that was out there and then i noticed Nathan was fiddling with our camera lenses which I thought was odd. He went to the edge of the boat and then told me to look in the camera (I was asking to go inside because it was so cold). I looked through the lense and saw a huge sign that said "Marry Me". I didn't think automatically that it was for me, but then turned down and Nathan was on one knee and there was a ring inside a lit-up box just shining as bright as can be. He asked me and I said yes althought it was a big blur :) because I immediatly started crying. It was a truely magical night and I'm so lucky he made it so special. Here's a few pictures of that evening.
